I've only rented movies before on VUDU but since they now support Chromecast and had the best price on season 3 of 'Continuum' got the series there. So far all I've seen is the free 1 minute promo. Amazon already has episode 1 up. Is VUDU slower at getting episodes up? I contacted support.

It was available last night. No response back from support. However the progress dialog just sat there using Chromecast for the first episode even though the 1 minute promo played okay. So I watched it using my BD player. Their app needs more work.

Which Vudu hardware player allows one to download an HDX movie before watching? Our alleged 15mbps internet connection typically falls to below 3mbps a few times each hour. So I need to download rentals before playing.
Is the BX100 the box to get, or is there something better?

The VUDU player on Playstation 3 (and presumably PS4) allows you to download video for playback and apparently a couple of funky LG BDPs with built-in HDDs can do it as well (the discontinued BD690 and BD390). You can download VUDU to PCs, but only things that you own and there's no available 5.1 sound. I'm not sure whether you can download rentals to PS3 or not; I know that you can download owned titles to it.

I have no idea how well supported the old VUDU boxes are these days; I've never used one.

I have the same problem with 6Mbps Frontier DSL EVER night it slows down to 1+/- Mbps, I contacted Vudu support about being able to down load rented movies and was told you can not, can only download owned content. It appears I was able to download a rented movie to a PS3. When I pull up the movie, it asks if I want to delete it. But I haven't had time to watch it yet to test that it's really there. I'll report back.

Anyone used the Forums inside of Vudu (https://forum.vudu.com/)? I tried posting a question 2X and tried to respond to a post and nothing ever shows up.The question was about getting a different movie via UV than the BRD I bought: I purchased a Stallone 3-Film Collector's Set (Rambo First Blood, Cop Land, & Lock Up) at Walmart. The package had 2 stickers on it, a UV sticker that said ' See packaging for details' (did not list the movie) and a second on that said 'Stallone Collection with digital download available for Rambo'. Inside the package there was a slip titled 'Vudu HD Movies' it did not mention UV anywhere on it, the instructions where:
- Visit www.vudu.com/digitalcopy
- Enter the promo code below
- Follow the onscreen instructions
- Your digital copy of Rambo First Blood will be placed in your 'my Movies' collection for you to enjoy anytime on VUDU!
The must redeem by date was listed as 3/10/15
When I entered the promo code and followed the instructions I got a copy of Rambo IV (2008) added to My Movies and it was an UV copy (which I verified is in my UV collection and available through other UV services).
My question is: does this seem correct? I really don't mind as I keep my BRD but it seems funny to get a different movie than one of the ones I purchased.

Go to the VUDU website and log into your account. Under Help, click Support, Contact Us, Email Support.
State your question, problem or complaint. They usually respond the same day.

Because of my slow/poor internet service I tend to download my vudu content to my Win7 HTPC. Can anyone tell me where vudu stores these files? I have looked but can not seem to find them. I am interesting in seeing how big they are and maybe backing them up to my NAS.
Also I have several computers, if I download the Vudu software on another computer can I move or copy the downloaded movie file to the 2nd computer and be able to play it? Or can a stream it from the first computer one to the second one?

You'll have to wait a while for this capability, if and when the Common File Format (CCF) becomes a reality.

See here for more info. Someone posted the file location of the downloaded files but I do not remember the location. I could not get anything to play the files and lost ALL interest in CCF.

i know this has been mentioned numerous times, but I just signed up for Vudu and have to vent my frustration. Why the hell do they have HD movies in Stereo?! Watching my first movie, Master and Commander, and messed around with my prepro for almost 30 minutes thinking there was an issue cause I was only getting stereo sound before searching the Net and finding all the other complaints. I don't see myself spending much money on movies from Vudu if the majority of them are this crap.

Depends on what the studio gives them and you may often find the Amazon and Google Play have the show in stereo too. But then you might want to check your audio input settings. On my AV Receiver I have to switch inputs on VUDU shows to get the DD+ audio or it will just be PCM.

That is bizarre! I don't think that I've ever run into a stereo movie on VUDU before, but Master and Commander definitely is. It's particularly sad because it has some impressive sound design in the naval battle scenes. I recall watching the disc for the first time and feeling like there were cannon shot rolling across my living room floor .
I guess that you have to be careful; the 'More Info' tab for each movies entry will tell you what the sound formats are.

I actually never watched it before, but have seen it listed numerous places as being a great movie for surround effects and LEE so that's why it was the first movie I got. At least it was one of my 5 free for being a new customer so I didn't actually spend any money on it.
Thanks for the tip on the 'more info' tab. Will have to remember to check that before buying any movies. It's reassuring that you haven't noticed that before as it hopefully means that the majority of their HD movies don't have stereo audio.

I have both HDMI and SPDIF hooked up to my AV Receiver and I have to switch the audio input sometimes even on Amazon. That truly is weird but if it is a stereo title it may show PCM and switch the input will make it ProLogic. AVS Forum Special Member

VUDU updated the Android app and now it works again with Chromecast. It was hit or miss before. Only problem is that the audio is PCM only not even ProLogic. Audio for Continuum on my BD player is DD+.

My understanding is that on the BDT220 BD 24P output has to be selected each time you start the streaming app.

Has anyone noticed 'Slideshow' view on the Vudu app? Is this something new, or have I just never noticed it before?
While browsing Vudu on a Toshiba BDX33 Blu Ray player, I watched a trailer, and after it finished it returned to the rent/buy options screen. I noticed that there were dvd covers flanking the title on both sides and left/right directional arrows. Arrowing over, caused the the covers to move to the center position. I can't recall ever seeing this before. Reaching Slideshow view occurs when playing the trailer by pressing the 'Play' button when prompted while landing on a title cover on the main page. It doesn't work when playing the trailer from a title's summary page.
The video I made wouldn't upload at photobucket, so these screencaps will have to do.
Checking the Roku XD, the same feature is available there. But not on the newer Samsung UN32EH5300 hdtv, or surprisingly, the PS3.
It's interesting to look at, but my surprise is actually over how 2 older devices are handling, what I'd assume, is a processor taxing capability. Especially the Roku XD, it's a flashy change from the normal, plain jane app design they've built the units upon.
While browsing Vudu on a Toshiba BDX33 Blu Ray player, I watched a trailer, and after it finished it returned to the rent/buy options screen. I noticed that there were dvd covers flanking the title on both sides and left/right directional arrows. Arrowing over, caused the the covers to move to the center position. Curiously it's only in stereo on Amazon as well. You can get it in 5.1 from iTunes and Sony Entertainment Network, if you have a device or devices which can stream either. That's what Prologic IIx is for. It does a great job creating a 7.1 sound field from 2.0 and 5.1 content. Of course it's not as good as discrete channels but it can be very, very good simulating discrete channels. If the stereo track is encoded with Prologic, like many are, the sounds will come from the same locations as a discrete sound track.
